There are many decisions to make regarding your estate. Once such decision is naming an Executor. According to a recent article by CNBC, this decision is not one to be taken lightly.
“Simply put, serving as an executor is no cakewalk. The person in that role — who often is grieving — will be in charge of trying to make sure everything the decedent owned ends up where it’s supposed to. They also ensure a final tax return is filed and that other debts are paid as necessary..”
The executor should be a trusted individual, and one who will be around for the long haul. Estates can take months, or years to settle.
The article goes on to discuss duties of the executor, and how you can better plan in advance to assist that person in the future.
